Level 3 Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)
BLS and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF Level 3) course covers prevention, recognition and treatment of severe allergic reaction including the use of auto-injectors and CPR.
If severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are not treated immediately, they can result in death. According to the World Health Organisation, the UK has one of the highest incidences of allergies in the world.
The most severe form of allergic reaction is anaphylaxis. The most common causes of this condition are insect stings, foods, and some medications. The situation is life-threatening and requires immediate first aid (an auto-injector) and emergency medical care.
This course has been approved by CCEA Regulation for anyone who needs training in the use of an auto-injector for the treatment of anaphylaxis.
A first responder in the workplace is not allowed to administer a casualty’s medication without specialised training. However, they may assist a casualty in administering their own medication.
